It seems almost too easy to drive the 2hrs directly down to the Kangaroo Valley without stopping. However, we highly suggest taking off one morning and breaking up the journey with two fantastic places to stop along the way.
We begin our journey heading south down the princess highway, along the coastal road to the gorgeous Kiama. Its roughly a 1hr and 45min journey from Sydney, with a simple detour along a dramatic coastline.
Kiama is known for an amazing blowhole that explodes high into the sky on certain tides and swell. It’s easy to find parking nearby, stretch the legs and take in the scenery of the headland over a 30 min stroll.
If you are hungry, we recommend checking out:
The Hungry Monkey: is on a side street on your way into the blowhole that is worth the time to explore after a delicious snack here.
Olive & Vine:Â is a great place to stop on the way out of town, if you suddenly decide that you cant last until reaching Berry!
Deceptively, the quaint town of Berry resides 2 min detour from the main highway. Set in what seems like the English countryside, this town is a home furnishing and foodies delight.
We suggest you park up one end of town and meander your way to the other end through the side streets. For us, we like to begin with a delicious meal to walk off afterwards.
The Sourdough Cafe this gorgeous setting has beautiful meals and take away snacks for your accommodation. Take a wander behind the beautiful building to explore a beautiful gift shop called the picnic shed.
On your way down the street exploring different homeware shops, definitely check out the doughnut van for a sweet stop :-)
If you are wanting to make Berry your destination to explore longer, we highly recommend staying at Rayfields. This gorgeous piece of acreage is perfect for your four-legged furry friends and for peace and quiet.
