The Southern Highlands is a premium cool climate wine growing area that sits between Sydney and Canberra and the home to some 60 wineries and 16 cellar doors. Sitting at an altitude of around 700 metres is now, after over 17 years of growth, producing many of Australia’s award-winning wines.
The fertile soils, high altitude and seasonal changes are ideal for cool-climate vineyards and a wide range of quality produce. Local specialties include Angus beef, goats, Toulouse geese, Wessex saddleback pigs, yabbies, cheeses, olives and olive oil, truffles, berries and cherries, and pome fruits. Located just outside Berrima, family run and a joy to visit. Grape picking runs from March-May and a visit is a must.
